The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 好温柔好温柔，虽然完全猜得到故事走向，而且故事提上去都没有很好收住，但是真的好温柔好温柔好温柔啊，没有人能拒绝温柔。

天海老师太好看太可爱了吧！！！合租房只有在电影里才如此让人向往。
女王演这种沙雕喜剧真的是得心应手，虽然总得来说没有解决什么问题，但一如既往的日系风格看完心里暖暖的。
看到最后，那个光用的、滤镜加的，我以为是Share house 广告片……很典型的日式糖水片。
会有神灵庇佑吧，但悲伤的，苦痛的，失落的，终须自己勇敢面对。
画面没得说，尤其是自然景，太棒了。剧情就……一般吧，高潮那里太潦草了吧？
插画画风，人物较为扁平，情绪不够饱满停留在表面，河童和地藏菩萨的设定蛮有意思的，最后一段打妖怪仿佛在过家家。

能看的只有奶奶讲故事的部分，能听只有片尾（突然听到自己以前听的歌）
结束的太匆忙了，为了给他们表演设的大蛇这个角色吧？
结尾非常理想化 还顺便宣传了日本的未来群居生活推荐 挺那啥
一部我以为是日常向，结果带奇幻色彩的番
画风超舒服，又非常夏天！而且，人设和剧情都没有槽点，真的很喜欢很喜欢！最后和红祟战斗的时候我在想，日本神秘的传说是需要像奶奶一样传述下来的，这是他们土地的根，是彼此共鸣齐心齐力的线索
场景色调都很疗愈呀～ 就是穿插的故事开头和结尾为了衬托出迷途之人成为家人，显得有点牵强和无趣。
这两段拍的是好笑又有点感人，前期的焦虑感和后期态度看法的转变，真真是呼应了今天早些时候看的 死亡诗社 里的那句话『换个角度看问题』!
没想到中间有搞笑戏份…也没想到全程被没钱的阴影笼罩……更没想到结局………
