The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 我是先看了一下爱情神话，再接着看这一部穿越寒冬，感觉穿越寒冬的叙事能力，故事的编写水平，导演的拍摄手法，还有演员的后期配音，都非常让人难以接受，爱情神话也是两个小时，但是全程看完有一种意犹未尽的感觉，但是穿越寒冬，我看到一个小时就已经感觉已经实在难以忍受就离席了。你们去看看就知道了一切尽在不言中
作为一个湖北人，当年经历过疫情，我肯定会把这电影看完的。老年人爱情那一段看的不是太适应，感觉太肉麻了。演员用贾玲和朱一龙两个湖北演员挺符合这部片子的意境。
为居而来。贾玲可爱。竟然觉得有她照顾居蛮好😂
一度想睡觉，怪不得旁边情侣都闲到吵架了。。。
真的付出了很多，牺牲了很多，但，这场仗还没完...

没去电影院，爱奇艺看的，不知道好不好，反正是从头哭到尾，哭的抽抽，分了好多天才看完。
为真实的现实而流泪 但不合乎逻辑和尬的地方实在很多
有几个细节抓的挺好，黄渤解封后回到家，搂着熟睡中的媳妇儿，媳妇儿下意识去握着黄渤的手。老年人的爱情故事矫情了…………徐帆和高亚麟的爱情故事还挺动人的
转场和故事衔接还可以，导演还是有点想法在里面的，但是编剧换了吧，没有爱情就拍不了电影了么？编剧恋爱脑实锤了，尬得我只想暴击快进键！但凡不是有中国医生和那年跨年看得地球最后一晚，我都给不到两分这么高
二星半，这个题材本身发挥受限，影像呈现显得刻意煽情
演员阵容挺强大，但感觉给人一种硬凑出来剧情，强行悲伤……不要过度消费情怀!
演技很好，其他还需要说吗？（恰好是金牛和水瓶去看的）
黄渤和贾玲也救不了这个电影，这种主题拍纪录片效果应该更好，大可不必拍电影尬演。

本来要打4星，被50岁的高龄产妇没问题很常见恶心掉一颗星。
有好看感人的点，但是也有不知所谓的线索，更可惜的是感觉他很多东西没有触碰到国人最深的伤痛，是不敢还是不能？有点可惜，本可以更好，当然我也真情实感流了很多眼泪
假装不用力、不狗血地展开了几条线，其实都成了浮光掠影，无法感觉到一种真切的情感，反而觉得周冬雨啊，天生就是吃这行饭的，很有灵气。
