The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 故事只能算是山田的平庸之作，不过作为松竹百年献映的命题之作，《电影之神》非常难得，全片处处可见致敬和缅怀。电影之神是什么？是蕴藏在内心的情怀以及落寞中对电影的执著之爱。

翻了一些评论，显然，在现在，人们已无法原谅性格缺陷者，无法共情失败者，在这个割裂严重的世界，90岁导演的悲悯之心少有人能体会了吧。
神明存在于电影的每一帧之间，也存在于每一个热爱电影的人心中。

老山田失手了。本片配不上这个名字。“神”在何处？剧情的“神转折”，抑或是人物的“神”逻辑？
这是一个落魄导演不得志的故事，也是一个美丽女性守护自己的爱情牺牲一切的故事
山田洋次对清水宏和小津的致敬。
真是一位好姑娘啊，"不是他要给我幸福，而是我想要给他幸福"，算是一个非常圆融首尾呼应良好的故事了。泽田研二老爷子真让人惊讶，年轻时候帅得那么风华绝代，失敬了。

自我陶醉式电影，这部电影与其说是拍给观众看的，不如说是感动自己用的。
日本的文艺电影中的感情充满了 PTSD 啊（超夸张式的情感表达与动作演绎，配合着超礼貌性的语言文化）
再回头已是百年身。【你做会后悔、不做也会后悔，只能选一种方式后悔，人生就是这么回事。】
经历这两个多月的封闭，对这个电影男主的心路历程有了深刻的理解。内心越丰富的人，越需要精神生活，越需要得到反馈…不过，战胜了寂寞孤独痛苦，也就真的超越了自己本能，成为更“刀枪不入”的人。
与原著相比，开局精准，中局过渡自然，交叉剪辑是妙手，没能在码头收尾，大局观稍欠
